What Dreams May Come

Monday, December 25, 2017 - 16:00
A photo of Mordred from the television series Merlin. Mordred, like the young Brightwood boy, is a powerful and feared druid boy.
Making dreams a reality.

Merry Christmas everyone :)

Here I'm able to take a moment from the festivities to write about how I feel Friday went.

For starters, while the session was a bit stunted for the seasonal effects, the overall objective was achieved.

Lack luster? Maybe, but let's dive right into it.

Mitch is back and Mitch is smart.

For starters, we have Helbrim, the Mitch controlled druid with all the smarts and capabilities he left off with and then some.

Let's talk about my elves. They didn't do a small amount of damage, and they were ferocious...

Make a plot point system you want to use

Monday, December 18, 2017 - 21:13
In software there's a saying, "to eat your own dog food."

So the plot point system needs to become a player system for driving the plot behind the scenes.

This means the game would become largely about settling scores and playing out events that need playing out.

This would also mean better documentation of the ingame events for scribery.

My end goal is to avoid the rigamorole of the players going back and forth with their plans, and to get the game on the straight and narrow off the hop.

The issue I have with that is the game becomes play by mail.

Nobody wants to play by mail.

Ultimately, I think all...

I should fix that notification

I am so sorry. #notsorry
Heavy role play and a dud ending

You win some you lose some. I have a tendency to over think things and in doing so frustrate people and over complicate situations.

Curtis' timely suggestion was perfect and in truth, wrapping the players was supposed to gag them, but for whatever reason I had a synapse failure or something because I didn't just say so.

In the end, the hamfisted ending that I exposited due to time constraint leads to the sort of Christmas episode I'm hoping for, but at what cost, right?

Making it Fit.

Sometimes you have to do things you would rather...

Christmas. It's coming.

Thursday, December 14, 2017 - 22:06
He's coming.

So in the coming sessions we have.. oh what's this? Oh it's a text from Jessica asking if I'm going to TPK the whole party.

No Jessica, I'm not going to TPK the whole party. The party TPKs itself :)

Thurass'X

Paul and I have discussed what is coming and there are plans. Thurass'X is not dead. Not I, nor Joe, nor Curtis, nor any of you wonderful viewers, wanted Pauls latest character dead. Shit happens, the story goes the way it goes. Paul is not butt hurt. He, like everyone, has shit going on in his life. As people we try to maintain composure in the face of stress...

Tragedy is a four letter word

Saturday, December 9, 2017 - 21:43

So Paul died again.  This time, he said hold my beer and climbed on the cross.

There was much drama, much anger and fury and butthurt.  And then all was well.

The Left Turn.

Ivor presented a one two combination on top of Thurrass'X murdering the tribal leader.  The bumpkins were hesitant until Ivor managed to melt the phylactery, but it was the absolute lack of leadership that allowed the saviours to take complete control of the tribe.

Dissent aside, the remaining tribe members now return to their hills as mandated by their new messiah, to await...

Review of Xanathers

I've done a video review of Xanathers Guide to Everything and you can find it on YouTube!

Xanathars Guide to Tables

Thursday, November 30, 2017 - 00:59
The Xanathar peers upon his pet goldfish.
This review was turned into a 5 minute video. Xanathars Guide to a Bunch of Shit

I waxed for four hours about all sorts of shit.  Chiefly among them was "Xanathars Guide to Everything" and what I thought of it.

It is a different sort of book then I assumed it would be; certainly a lot thinner then I assumed a 'book about everything' would be.

What I was really surprised about, is the stark...

Good sessions and getting better!

Sunday, November 26, 2017 - 00:02
That which you are seeking...

These last two sessions have been quite good!

Although, I need to not eat during game. One of my worst pet peeves and I'm guilty as shit.

Jessica stated last week that she would be absent for a Friday as she was attending a 'Christmas Party.' Personally I think it'd have made more sense to have it this coming week given it'll be December 1st but whatever.

Watching these last few, I feel like we have a good table chemistry. I need to chill a bit, focus more in moving the story and less on describing a current point. I end up repeatedly trying to continue the scene...

Did someone steal the fog juice?

Thursday, November 23, 2017 - 12:19

I am Dooley's disappointment.

I am Dooley's inspiration.

I am Dooley's revenge.

I am Dooley's smaug.

So while folks may not have realized it, I made my own fog juice. After Curtis stole my store bought shit, he unwittingly set me on a path of discovery, and upon that path I learned how easy it is to make not just fog juice, but the thickest, whitest, chokingest fog that you never wanted in a closed environment. In case...

Another Friday comes

Thursday, November 16, 2017 - 19:19
Drowning in days

So another Friday comes fast upon me and I unfortunately haven't had a chance to clean up the garage. Such a mess.

I need more shelves, or even building a shelving system to better hold the bits I keep close, as well as the bits that accumulate.

I've got all of my plans set for tomorrows session, such that any direction we go in, be it explorative, political, or combative, I'm prepared.

The longer the campaign goes, the higher the levels of the characters, and the more difficult it becomes to ensure they all stay focused within a story that keeps them engauged.
