Fighting a town.

Wednesday, September 5, 2018 - 20:54
The Kobold Horde. I'm playing this card.

I remember an adventure a long time ago, Dragon Mountain. Great little module for AD&D 2nd Edition.

If you're unclear on the AD&D thing, think like D&D 2.5, cause AD&D was kinda the step up from the 'red box' or whatever box (there was a few colours).

Incidentally, if you didn't know, the A is Advanced, and it was pretty crunchy.

Anyhow, so for Friday, I'm taking some inspiration from Dragon Mountain and the worshipping community of Kobolds. It's a part of their heritage and culture, and the more I think about it, the more I think that an ancient...

Three sessions a week

Thursday, August 30, 2018 - 15:59

So we are up to three sessions a week here at the garage, and it's an exciting time for me as this upcoming Monday group is my chance to exercise a vanilla experience.

That's right, you heard me. I'm going to be delivering a very vanilla experience in D&D, replete with mercenary adventure times, jobs on a board and more of everyones traditional RP'ing.

The world as we know it will still be there, in the background, but I intend to make this campaign a test of underpowered characters against a back drop of military might. A war torn kingdom, that is doing great in the...

Rolling Season 3

Friday, July 13, 2018 - 09:08

Time I wrote an article, eh?

The CloudSpires have been a busy place, with a Civil War raging over 6 months that has resulted in a rebellious state in the east.

Sid Meir, ejected by Vane from the Royals Peak Church of Sun & Scroll finds a friend in Daed Al Icarr who champions his cause, to the extreme that Daed is known for.

Over the course of 6 months, Vane moulded the church through his evangelical influence and is now the residing figure head watching through a militant protectorate known as the...

Seasons Greetings

Thursday, May 31, 2018 - 09:55

So we're into the new season of The CloudSpires Chronicles.

What does that mean?

In our season finale, Vane and Ivor made a move on the church as Vane ousted...

Where did the injections go?

Tuesday, May 1, 2018 - 11:48

Injections are in the background.

Pay what you feel is fair. If I need more, I'll let you know. Eventually I'll settle down to code the ticker for the bottom of the screen so folks can see injections.

Also, I think it'd be neat to plug them into the website so folks can see current listed injections on the website.

You didn't play my injection.

As always, if I didn't get to your injection, or if I rejected it, it's not because I have a personal thing against anything; at that moment in time, I didn't see the opportunity to play it and didn't.

If I haven't...

To cage the bat?

Sunday, March 18, 2018 - 23:57

What is the goal of my role?

I'm seeking to provide entertainment for both you and I.

I'm building a web of stories as a story, and having my fun along the way because that's the deal: Everyone gets to be a part of the story, me especially.

(S)He who runs the game, sets the tone and plays the role of the world, but the world has to be consistent and make sense.

In short, it may be bullshit, but it's my bullshit, and it's consistent.

Polished Turds.

DM bullshit is as time honoured as player fuckery and as long as ying and yang chase one another, so to...

Memory Holes

Saturday, March 10, 2018 - 19:49

While the episodes are all indexed and filed, I don't care enough to go trawling them to find legitimacy of what I claim.

There were a few who remained, by my recollection; and those folks cleaned up the carnage left behind.

It's either that or I mill the story into an iralite resurrection bit akin to Vanes betrothed coming back like a light weight Ghostbusters opera.

Five mines.. four mines.. seven mines.. we have all this recorded and as has been proven in the past, it's hit or miss who's right until we look. Memory is driven by committee (ahem, democracy)...

A map of the CloudSpires

Friday, March 9, 2018 - 11:43
By Claudia Rodriguez, "The Cartographer"

It's not perfect, but I found a tool which speeds up map creation to literally painting mountains and adding text.  Can't ask for better.  Here it is:

Some of the outlying towns have descriptions, but I don't believe any of them are entered in the wiki.

KLSMC is Ketterrog, Lagos, Summerhill Mining Consortium.

You'll note the Black Mountains to the north west, the mines stretching along the 'road to the west' (the map maker app had no roads).

Sorleosserr means South Hills.

Falls Point is named for the Fall...

D&D Beyond Review

Sunday, March 4, 2018 - 15:22

I hadn't done an article in a while and I figured I should, given I've been neglecting my stream in favour of my recent project turned mild life obsession.

I recently spent over $200 on D&D Beyond so that we, that is me and the gang, could have access to the wonderous power of digital reference!

March 12th marks the year anniversary of D&D Beyond's release and I wanted to get this in while I had the time to write it.

Slow and glitchy.

I have fibre optic. ...

Making flatscreen and projector tabletop better!

Wednesday, February 21, 2018 - 17:57
The Dynamic Maps Game Engine

A week ago I was inspired by living battlemaps, animated top down maps rendered in CG for use in tabletop games played with a projector or upon flatscreen television.

I set to work, obsessing over a piece of software and developing it to the point it is now.  I present, the DMGE, the Dynamic Maps Game Engine: http://dmge.digitalforge.ca

I enjoyed working on this a lot, and felt a passion in developing it that I hadn't felt in a long time.

Now, I want to take it to next level and I've established a...
