Session Overview & Narrative Recap

Act I: The Suzail Ripple Arrives at M.A.S.H.

Returning to the high alpine meatgrinder of the Stormhorns, the session opens with the direct culmination of the October 22 Suzail city session: the heavily armored House Ebonhawk supply wagon rolls through the gates of M.A.S.H. right on schedule.

Delivering 32 crates of premium healing potions and burn salves formulated by Marco Pollo at Pollo's Potions, the shipment instantly staves off a catastrophic medical collapse for the 170 critically wounded Purple Dragon soldiers under Andric DeVross's care.

Act II: The Dead Sergeant's Key & Swamp Intelligence

While inspecting newly arrived casualties, the party examines the body of a fallen Purple Dragon sergeant recovered from the upper ridge. In his hand is an intricate, brass-geared Second-Age Irungarten bronze key. When brought within proximity of Anvil, the key hums with sympathetic resonance, causing the internal diagnostic relays of the warforged's Mysrim OS to illuminate in vibrant cyan.

Concurrently, Cifer Nachash receives encrypted intelligence dispatches from his marshland informant networks:

  • The Threetrees Summit: Draxxus of the Church of the Silverwing Serpent has convened a clandestine rendezvous with Carrsack, riding a colossal salamander mount.
  • The Nykhas Rest Purge: The frontier settlement of Nykhas Rest has collapsed into bloody civil factionalism, with warlords and scavengers turning on one another in an event known locally as "The Purge."

Act III: The Catastrophe at Shatterstone Rim-Fort

Grim news reaches hospital command: Shatterstone Gorge, the steep three-to-four-mile mountain ravine serving as M.A.S.H.'s primary casualty-evacuation corridor toward the northern front aligned with Marsember, has fallen.

Commander Vargath—an elite orc lieutenant under warlord Krusht—has seized the gorge rim with a cohort of coerced Stone Giants. Bombarding the heights with an uphill avalanche of boulders, the giants obliterated the Cormyrean garrison, smashed the ballista batteries, and scattered the Woolipeds (heavy draft beasts). With the wounded cut off from safety, Andric mobilizes a ten-soldier strike team to retake the chokepoint.

Act IV: The Bobsled Gauntlet Down the Canyon

Reaching the ruined rim-fort, the party hitches two surviving heavy 10x5-foot wooden mountain ambulance sleds to teams of shaggy Woolipeds and launches an adrenaline-fueled downhill descent down the snow-packed chute:

  • Avalanche Maneuvers: Cifer and Andric steer the lead sled through falling boulders, mortar craters, and felled timber barricades.
  • Mutant Bear Attack: Frenzied mountain bears corrupted by mycelial spores lunge at the racing sleds; Stompah and Anvil cleave the beasts mid-stride while Anvil deploys conveyor-belt track spurs from his warforged chassis to stabilize the sled at breakneck velocity.

Act V: The Sunken Second-Age Ghost City

Roughly two miles down the chute, the canyon grade flattens into an astonishing sight: an ancient, snow-lit Second-Age cliffside metropolis carved directly into the canyon walls beneath a narrow slit of mountain sky:

  • Architecture: Characterized by cylindrical stone petal-awnings, spiraling civic towers, and eroded commercial arcades—including a crumbled DRX (Dwarven Revenue Service) tax office and an ancient diner bearing faded signage resembling "King Burgers."
  • The Necro-Kitties: Hundreds of silent, glowing-eyed Necro-kitties perch along the frosted rooftops, impassively observing the passing sleds "for undead reasons."
  • The Spore Threshold: Atmospheric toxicity pushes Anvil's chemical sniffers past 4,800 PPM, dangerously close to the 5,000 PPM threshold where fungal spores overpower organic respiratory tracts.

Act VI: The Cliffhanger — 400 Feet from the Signal

Rounding the final canyon bend, Anvil's internal receivers lock onto a rhythmic, radioactive Geiger-counter pulse originating from behind a reinforced stone bulkhead 400 feet ahead—the distinct energetic signature of a buried Rukhshmen ("God-Goo") cache.

Just beyond lies Commander Vargath's lower basin barricade. Armed with scout intelligence that the Stone Giants view the surface war merely as "the Dream Stage" and will disperse the moment Vargath falls, the party unlimbers weapons to storm the chokepoint as the session ends.

Notable Lore & Revelations

  • The Wooliped Sled Lifeblood: Cormyrean mountain garrisons rely entirely on shaggy Woolipeds and 10x5-foot sleds to navigate the lethal grades of Shatterstone Gorge.
  • The Stone Giant Dreamers: The giants under Vargath hold no allegiance to Krusht; they are bound purely by Vargath's personal coercion and will disperse if their commander is slain.
  • The Radium Rukhshmen Signal: Second-Age ruins in Shatterstone Gorge conceal intact reservoirs of Rukhshmen ("God-Goo"), emitting heavy radioactive/arcane pulses detectable by Irungarten automatons.
