Session — May 6, 2026: Donovon's Warehouse & The Battle at the Red Almonds

Party Members Present

Session Summary

The session split between two parallel storylines before converging in explosive fashion. Vindvenford awoke at the Oshitzu compound in Threetrees, where his father-in-law — the Oshitzu patriarch — briefed him on the aftermath of the Threetrees bombing: the Bacharuss Family and Grakoss Family were being pushed out, but the rest of the party was missing, trapped in an extra-dimensional pocket. He was introduced to Lilith, a snake-hooded half-breed spymaster assigned as his personal aide, and dispatched Oshitzu magi to pull the party out of Donovon's pocket dimension. The patriarch's parting words delivered the campaign's title drop: "There are no heroes here."

Meanwhile, the rest of the party was deep in Donovon's Warehouse — the extra-dimensional marketplace of the minor god of mercantilism. Hop outwitted the cosmic merchant by flipping Donovon's own double-headed coin from two seasons ago, winning a devastating Zephyr Bow and +3 Bracers of Defense. Vindvenford discovered a Magic Carpet. Most critically, Tao found his petrified family members displayed as statuary — sold to Donovon by the Baccarus and Grakoss Family. Donovon offered a deal: fill a bag of molding with ignisal abaritil guano from the Stormhorns to free them. As the warehouse collapsed around them, Donovon threw one final gift — the Silver Bell of Eleanor Osrin — tipped his bowler hat, and vanished.

The two storylines collided when the Oshitzu magi's ritual ripped the party from the pocket dimension, depositing them through the ceiling of the Red Almonds and Frogs inn in Threetrees — right into a restaurant full of screaming diners. The Silver Bell clanged on impact, Slowing most of the party (DC 16 Wisdom save), and Bacharuss Family agents already positioned on the rooftops attacked. Dambastra delivered personalized visions of each party member's deepest desire during the dimensional transition, and the Baccarus elder screamed "SIGMASTRA!" as reality tore itself apart. Combat erupted — Tao's aerial grapple-throw off a building, Silus's devastating Firestorm spell, and Vindvenford's brick-like rooftop landing — and was still raging when the session ended.

Lore Revealed

• The Osrin-Thayan Connection: The Baccarus elder explicitly confirmed House Osrin has Thayan roots: "These Osrins are not so corrupt. They're Thayans after all." This reframes the political landscape of the Farseas.
• Sigmastra — The Sigma Cycle: Dambastra was caught in Sigma Irungarten. Now Sigmastra portrays Dambastra's visage for his own purposes, acting as the guardian spirit. The DM confirmed the pattern: "History repeats itself" — Sigma cyclically gains power through "sheer total and irrevocable bullshit accidents." The Baccarus elder referenced "a singular man who had the power to restrain the master."
• Dambastra's Dual Snake Form: During the dimensional collapse, Dambastra appeared as two snakes sitting parallel, then as "the massive silhouette of a man with a snake coiling around him" — a potentially significant dual nature.
• Donovon's Petrification Economy: Donovon's warehouse stores petrified beings sold by various factions. He values balanced markets: "The war's not mine to be making any money off of. Such a thing causes imbalance."
• The Ignisal Abaritil: Six-legged hard-shelled insects in the Stormhorns. Their excrement is the "purest arcanic effuse." Their guano can restore Tao's petrified family. Connected to Eadaz's research into arcanic insects.
• Oshitzu Clan capabilities: The patriarch can regenerate. The clan has ninja operatives, dimensional magi, spymaster networks, and scouts across Threetrees. They view the bombing aftermath as the "most major change event" in recent memory.
• Donovon's Warehouse destabilizing: Post-party-exit, the warehouse is collapsing — Eldritch horrors and tentacles emerging from the pocket dimension.

Combat Encounters

1. Urban Battle at the Red Almonds and Frogs (Ongoing)

Enemies: Bacharuss Family agents — elder mage, ballista operator, back-door assailant, overhead Blight-caster, dimension-door caster | Outcome: Ongoing (continues into May 13 session)

• Party explosively entered reality from Donovon's dimension; Silver Bell Slowed most party members on impact
• Tao: Shadow-stepped to window, grappled the Baccarus elder off the building wall (Athletics 26 vs 17), aerial flurry of blows mid-air, trebuchet-launched him into a pillar — 24 strike + 12 fall damage
• Silus: Cast Firestorm (7th-level) — 10 ten-foot cubes, 36 fire damage; took 36 Blight necrotic in return, clubbed off building by ballista, then throat-bitten by an allied NPC (the lizard guy with the rash) for 16
• Vindvenford: Bonus action Jump spell to rooftop ("the grace of a brick" — roof caved slightly); menaced the rooftop enemy
• Hop & Zolat: Both Slowed; used turns to touch the Silver Bell and clear the condition
• Civilians caught in the crossfire — innocent diners dismembered by dimensional energies

Notable Moments

• 🐸 "Clever frog. I remember." — Hop flipped Donovon's own double-headed coin back at him (Sleight of Hand 24). The god of mercantilism erupted in laughter that shook shoes off shelves across the entire warehouse.
• 🐢 Tao finds his family — Petrified tortle statues displayed in the warehouse with a sign reading "Gotta Catch Them All." Tao grabbed Donovon by the collar. Donovon offered: "Would you like to buy them?" Devastating.
• 🪽 Magic Carpet reveal — Vindvenford stared at himself floating in the grass through a glass case. Donovon put the carpet on him, had him look in a mirror — shed a single tear.
• 🎩 "Almost forgot. You'll need that." — Donovon threw the Silver Bell of Eleanor Osrin to the party as they were ripped from his dimension, tipped his bowler hat, and heel-clicked into nothing.
• 🐍 Dambastra's visions — Each PC shown their soul's desire and then had it ripped away: Tao on a throne of war, Silus training with Warwick Osrin, Hop old and surrounded by family, Zolat's kumbaya of all swamp denizens at a barbecue. "Demostra feeds you this. Feeds it hard."
• 🧱 "The grace of a brick" — Vindvenford's rooftop landing caved the roof. Someone inside: "holy shit." The enemy soldier next to him had "white dinner plates inside his helmet" staring up.
• 🔥 Eye for an eye — Silus dealt 36 fire damage with Firestorm, then took exactly 36 necrotic from Blight. The DM: "Eye for an eye."
• 🐢 Tao's aerial grapple — Shadow-stepped to a window, jumped out, grabbed a mage off the building wall, struck him mid-air with flurry of blows, then trebuchet-launched him into a pillar. Peak ninja tortle.
• 😈 "SIGMASTRA!" — The Baccarus elder's final scream as all reality bent and broke. A new name for an old problem.
• 🏷️ Campaign title drop — The Oshitzu patriarch to Vindvenford: "There are no heroes here."
