Let'em fight

Saturday, March 4, 2017 - 15:04

Initial thoughts regarding the game?

It's 12:30am, you're drunk, you feel good about the game but you're trying to close it down, and that's when it strikes.

For fucks sake. Now. Fucking, now. It's ...now? Why not now.

Now that that's out of the way, I would've, could've, should've.

Should've had dwarves in the wreckage fighting for their lives, despite Prissmahl's presence (yeah, that's how his name's actually spelt).

Should've provided the characters with a fast travel back to town.

Should've expected fuckery.

Most importantly, I...

I like'em bigger.

I received this anonymously : http://killstring.blogspot.ca/2016/06/table-for-one-party-of-twelve-large.html

Reading through it, I would say I agree that in larger groups the middle chemistry is gone. This is of course further exasperated by my telling folks to cram the cross talk.

Last session was the first session I watchd through and what I realized is that I quashed the life of the adventure. Everyone had a moment...

Last session was fantastic. Fast paced turns, quick moving characters and several set pieces add up to a fun night.

The players continued their journey through the forward camp, making their way through a coal mine and coming out to witness the crashing of one dwarven ship as several others make their escape to places unknown.

Next week, the players are confronted with the choice of how to delve down into the dwarven vessel in search of answers to the mystery of the strange disappearance.

The channel writings have been whittled down; content has been reduced and...

Continuing the adventure

"Where did they go?"
"Why aren't they here?"

Last session finished off with the crew coming upon the scout camp the dwarves of Highhelm had established a day away from Royals Peak.

Tonghts session picks up at the camp with the party members watching an elk running away.

MTG Crossover? WTF? Yesterday the boys and girls of WotC released Kaladesh, a... Read More

Phantom Bot

Upgraded

The XP Fairy is replaced.

We now have, the Phantom Bot. Still called the XP Fairy and still capable of some of the stuff I had coded for the old fairy, the new fairy has a humongous number of commands and I've enabled most of them; including song requests, Johnny :)

We now have a !gift command.

XP is still XP and I don't know if I'll have time to figure out synching the XP between the site and the new fairy before the weekend.

Yes, this means the point values are reset, BUT if you are a regular that I recognize (you know who you are) and you tell me your points...

New Campaign

Friday, February 10, 2017 - 17:50

A new campaign is upon us.

The XP Fairy still hasn't been tooled but I got my soundboard working again.

The XP awards board is getting curated, suggestions for generic, quck and fun effects welcome.

Todays adventure starts with the players in the Kingdom of the Cloud Spires.

Each player receives a fate lot to add intrigue to the game's world.

The Cloud Spires kingdom, a small but dense and powerful kingdom sequestered in the high peaks of northern Faerun, has been under siege by Highhelm forces for the last two years. Though largely self sufficient many...

The end of season 1

Monday, February 6, 2017 - 11:05
New characters will be made!

So last Friday had a whopping two people appear due to a range of reasons. Mitch was moving, Curtis was snowed in, Celeste's reliance on my mom to watch the kids fell through, and Alex simply didn't show up, and didn't text, call or even send a raven.

I wanted to end the campaign for the sake of the new players I'm bringing aboard. Newbies that they are to the 5th edition system, I feel it's a wise move; also, the players were clearly losing interest in the characters they'd played for the last eight months(ish).

The end of "season 1" meant the players ran off after Myrkhul...

01/20/2017 - Excessive viewer effects are excessive. Also, Karrassel.

Saturday, January 21, 2017 - 12:17

I loved Mass Effect 2. I didn't give a shit for the first one, and I thought the third one was drag ass and clueless.

Mass Effect 2 though, that one was amazing.

Time travel's done with, and the players are relieved for that. The Karrassel made an appearance and is now gone again. Maybe in another two campaigns I'll have them show up to kick some ass again. I did buy the minis after all :)

I've got to put some work into the fairy and use some judgement when it comes to viewer interactions. Some suggestions that stuck with me from last night are a count down for...

Friday, January 13th 2017 / Grevien gets blown away; hit with a fuckin triple crit and disappears from all time and space.

Saturday, January 14, 2017 - 22:55
I think I understand Kermit a lot better now as an adult DM.

Game starts out and I bring out the big drama.

Grevien and Myrkhul finish walking up the gang way and the first thing everyone does is try to interupt a DM cinematic.

Ain't happening.

The soul stone falls into the pit and a moment later releases another piece, a big piece, of Myrkhuls trapped soul.

Myrkhul empowers Grevien to the nth degree and Grevien makes like the big boss avatar I've been waiting to unleash. Hands rubbed with glee and cackles ensue.

The players feel the sting of super powered Grevien and I'm loving every second of it, until suddenly...

So the game starts out, Mitch arrives and immediately he's excited to continue with his plan from last session. Let's go get those slick ships in the pocket dimension from that guy with the chromed dudes.

Players arrive and Paul isn't able to attend (get better brother!), and this perturbs Joe who had great intentions.

Cue my exposition. Half an hour later, I've explained through dream sequences and role play that all sides are interested in what Myrkhul wants, which is the chunk of his soul trapped in gem rock.

Myrkhul is drawn to it and knows its location but can't...
